Description
Head and shoulders studio portrait of Norman Geoffrey Widdowson (serial number 2/2298) in military uniform. Widdowson, a Clerk with Dalgety & Co, Nelson, served in Egypt and Western Europe during World War One. He joined the Canterbury 7th Reinforcements as a Gunner, and embarked from Wellington to Egypt on 9 October 1915. Widdowson survived the war and was discharged on 28 August 1919. Widdowson's father, W. Widdowson, Richmond Avenue, Nelson (deceased), and mother, Mrs N. E. Widdowson, 49 Lees Street, Dunedin, are listed as his next of kin on Archives New Zealand Archway record.
