This post-card was most probably sent - from Egypt to New Zealand during World War 1 - by Sergeant Norman Widdowson : NZEF Service # 2/2298 of the New Zealand Field Artillery, 2nd Brigade, NZEF. Sergeant Widdowson served with the NZEF at Egypt from 1915-1916. Sergeant Norman Widdowson enlisted for war service on 24 August 1915. On 18 November 1915 he disembarked from his HM New Zealand (Troop) Transport ship, from New Zealand, at Suez. He would serve with the NZEF at Egypt from November 1915 to April 1916. Sergeant Widdowson embarked from Alexandria, Egypt, on 7 April 1916 for war service on the Western Front (France & Belgium). He served at France & Belgium 1916-1917-1918. He survived war service and returned home to New Zealand. For the full military record of Sergeant Norman Widdowson refer to New Zealand Online Cenotaph : www.aucklandmuseum.com
