Biography

The Nelson Agricultural and Pastoral Association was formed in October 1893 after a public meeting of those interested in holding an annual agricultural show. The first show was held in Richmond Park on 29 November 1893. At this stage, the Nelson Jockey Club owned Richmond Park. The Jockey Club sold the grounds to the Nelson Agricultural and Pastoral Assn in 1900, with the A&P Association renting the park & facilities to the Nelson Jockey Club and Nelson Trotting Club.
