Biography
Mike Johnston began working as a geologist in Nelson in January 1970 when the NZ Geological Survey office opened, and was employed there until the closure of the Nelson Office of Institute of Geological Nuclear Sciences at the end of 1994. He continues to undertake geological work on contract for a range of organisations. Mike has written several books relating to mining history, has been involved with the Nelson Historical Society for more than 20 years, and was a foundation trustee of the Tasman Bays Heritage Trust, 2000-2009.
