Joined the New Zealand Expeditionary Force during World War One and embarked with the 23rd Reinforcements Canterbury Infantry Regiment, C Company on 2 April 1917 from Wellington, New Zealand for Plymouth, England.
Served for one year and two hundred and twenty three days in New Zealand and Western Europe.
Discharged on 13 August 1918 as no longer physically fit for war service due to wounds received in active service.
Intended address on his return to New Zealand was in Wellington.
Died on 2 February 1938 in Motueka, New Zealand.
