Anne Roy Barnes born 1853 in Glasgow daughter of Robert Barnes and Jane Stewart Michie=married in 1842 in Glasgow. Jane and 2 eldest daughters had died in the typhoid outbreak, Robert brought 6 daughters to Nelson 1864. Anne Roy married John Thorn of Dovedale about 1876 and they had 7 children, Anne died soon after having Roy her 7th child and is thought she is buried in Stanley Brook where John is buried. John married again to Charlotte Packer and had 6 more children.
