Miss Hannay: I concur with the comments by Catherine Clarke. Mary Lilius Louise Hannay was my Grt Grandmother and lived / attended a dame's school in Takaka run by the local Drs wife. Her father a reporter in Canada and the US was for a time the sole teacher at Takaka School and he lived in the single room behind the school room (referred to in 'Speaking a Silence')
