Description
Full length studio portrait of Miss Balme. She stands with one hand on the seat of a chair and her other arm by her side. Distinguishing features include her long sash and the geometric pattern on the hem of her skirt. Studio props include a chair to which a device is attached often used by photographers to keep their subject still, and carpet. The backdrop is a painted mural of a decorative wall with a large open window. An outdoor scene including a balcony, baluster, trees, body of water, hills and sky are depicted through the window. The markings '54' and cursive script are in mirror writing.
