Description
The Dun Mountain Copper Mining Company was formed in England in 1857, to mine copper ore from the Dun Mountain near Nelson. The quantity of copper ore available proved insufficient and the company resolved to mine chrome ore in the same area. A railway was constructed to transport the ore to Nelson for shipment. Mining continued until 1866 and the company was wound up in 1872. Dun Mountain Copper Mining Company. Scrip certificates for New Zealand issue, 1857.
