Pakaru. Carved from black maire with two small paua eyes. It has been named Rapo because the striker was the best of several different materials tried and the contrast of colours suggested it. Pakaru vary in their descriptions and way of being played, but several descriptions of the player holding and tapping have been given. Goes with the bone striker (NPM2005.126.26.2)
