Description
Rectangular metal trunk, painted with faux wood effect, with hinged lid. The front and rear of the lid and base of the trunk are curved. The lid is dented, and there are ten prominent rivet heads. On the right and left sides of the trunk are two hinged metal handles with back mounting plates, painted tan, and there is a paper label on the left. On the front of the trunk are three clasps and latches, the outer two are painted black, the middle latch is brass and has a lock. Underneath the lock are brackets for a metal handle. Distinguishing features include the three lots of parallel vertical ridges that encircle the trunk, and four ridged feet protruding at the sides of the bottom of the trunk. The interior of the trunk is painted tan. Globe brand, manufactured in Australia. Includes inside the trunk two newspaper clippings "Union Line Wellington" and "Royal Oak Hotel".
Labels on the trunk indicate that it was used as a luggage trunk on trips overseas.
