Description
Rectangular one-row, ten-button musical instrument. The Sovereign Accordion was made in Germany, and is made out of several materials including wood and metal, and includes tin detailing and brass reeds. The corners of the instrument are reinforced with metal which are embossed with the maker's mark. The edges of the bellows are lined in red with metal corner brackets, and the folds are covered in a blue paper with decorative cream floral pattern.
The accordion belonged to the Lovell family of Takaka, who were shipbuilders and flaxmillers.
