Maker biography
Sir Theodore Rigg (1888-1972) was brought up in a Quaker family and served with the Friends War Relief Committee in World War 1 and then during the Russian Revolution. He married an American woman Esther White and returned to New Zealand. He was employed at the Cawthron Institute as an agricultural chemist and became director in 1933. He was knighted in 1938 and retired in 1956. Upon retiring he began researching the Quakers in early Nelson history. He did not publish a book on this topic.
