Description
Handcoloured lithograph on cream paper with card backing. The print is a botanical illustration of part of a tree with flowers. A brown branching stem is depicted with compound leaves in odd pinnate formation. The green leaflets are small and ovular. The flowers are in small hanging clusters. The flowers are yellow and bilateral, with long multiple yellow stamens, brown sepals, and curved pedicels.

The print is titled "Sophora tetraptera. (Kowhai)" and "A small tree growing in North and South Islands. It is thickly covered in early spring with golden yellow flowers. The wood is exceedingly hard."
