Maker and Role
Artist: Sarah Greenwood (b.1809, d.1899)
Production date
Oct 1850
Description
Pencil drawing on paper with bottom border margin, and backing sheet. The drawing depicts a landscape with the Church and Schoolhouse in Wakefield, 1850. A fenced lane spans the foregrounds space. On the right is a tall tree with a narrow trunk. Further up the picture plane, to the right of the lane is a small house. The lane recedes back into the centre of the picture at the top of a hill. At the top of the hill stands a church, possibly St John's. Down the slope to the left of the Church is a dense stand of trees. In the background are rolling hills and sky.

In the top right corner of the composition is '8', and in the right corner of the bottom margin is 'S.G. Septr 1850'.
