Description
Watercolour painting on rectangular sheet of brown paper, with a brown window mount, and backing. The painting is a botanical illustration of plants with flowers. The leaves form basal rosettes. The green leaf blades are spear-shaped, wide at the base tapering to a long curled point. Clusters of flowers are at the top of thick green stalks. The flowers have white petals that radiate out from a yellow centre, encased by green pointed sepals. Some flowers are depicted in bud and semi-open. There are leaves and flowers depicted in a wash of colours.
The painting is marked "NiNA JONES" and “GENtiANA pAtulA". Paper label on front: "gentiana patula, from the high mountains of the South Island. Natural size."
