Maker and Role
Artist: Nina Jones (b.1871, d.1926)
Production date
Circa 1920
Description
Watercolour painting on rectangular sheet of brown paper, with a brown window mount, and backing. The painting is a botanical illustration of part of a shrub with fruit. Two branching brown stems are depicted with clusters of small leaves. The green leaf blades are small and needle-shaped. Interspersed along the stems are round white-blue berries, some singular and some in small clusters. The berries look similar to small opals, hence the common name for the tree, 'Opal Berry'. There are leaves depicted in a wash of browns.

The painting is marked "NINA JONES" and titled "COProsMA AcErOSA."
