"The Metropolitan" is a type of general service whistle made by J. Hudson & Co. The patent number indicates that it was produced after 1908.This whistle was given to the donor's brother when he was a member of Iron Duke sea Scouts in the 1940s by a crew member of HMS/ HMNZS Achilles who was serving in the ship during the Battle of the River Plate.
