I believe that the proprietor of the Excelsior Butchery in Bridge St, Nelson is one Edward Hooker Edwards (1843 - 1915). The business appears to have been opened in the latter part of 1895 judging by the advertisements which I have found in papers past. Edward Hooker Edwards had a daughter Ellen Amelia Edwards who is my maternal great grandmother. I have been researching my family history and it was wonderful to find this picture.
