Possibly: Corporal George Edwin WIMSETT. NZEF Service # 57996 : Corporal, New Zealand Field Artillery, 37th Reinforcements, NZEF. Born 28 January 1875 - at Nelson. Son of Thomas & Elizabeth Anne Wimsett - of Nelson. Husband of Mrs Florence Wimsett - (possibly lady sitting in photograph) - of 56 Cambria Street, The Wood, Nelson. Prior to enlistment for war service George Wimsett was employed as a Farrier - by S. Kirkpatrick & Co - at Nelson. George Wimsett enlisted for war service - on 24 July 1917 - at Nelson. He was 40 years of age. At enlistment he was posted as a Corporal - with the New Zealand Field Artillery - 33rd Reinforcements. On 23 March 1918 he was transferred - at New Zealand Military Training Camp - to the 37th Reinforcements, NZEF. On 9 May 1918 Corporal Wimsett left New Zealand for overseas war service - with the 37th Reinforcements, NZEF - aboard HMNZ Transport Ship T103 'Maunganui '. At the completion of his overseas war service Corporal Wimsett returned home to New Zealand - embarking on 17 June 1919 from Tilbury, England - aboard HT 'Briton' - arriving at New Zealand - on 21 October 1919. The same day he was discharged from the NZEF. Corporal Wimsett had served overseas - with the NZEF - for 1 year & 77 days. In 1953 George Wimsett was living at Blenheim, Marlborough District.
