Copy of a photograph of a man in military uniform wearing a great coat. Thought to be Gunner Reginald Thomas Horner (serial no. 17295). Horner was born on 8 September 1890 in Christchurch, New Zealand. On the Auckland War Memorial Museum Cenotaph database his next of kin is listed as J.A. Horner (father), Tautapere, Southland, New Zealand. Horner worked for himself as a mail contractor before enlisting for service during World War One. He embarked with the 15th Reinforcements New Zealand Field Artillery on 26 July 1916 from Wellington, New Zealand for Devonport, England. He served for two years and seventy-nine days in Western Europe. Horner was discharged on 28 August 1918 as no longer physically fit for service due to gas poisoning. Horner died in Invercargill, New Zealand on 8 February 1964.
