Head and shoulders studio portrait of Gunner Charles Herbert Louisson (serial no. 2/226) in military uniform. Louisson was born on 23 September 1890 in Nelson, New Zealand. On the Auckland War Memorial Museum Cenotaph database his next of kin is listed as Robert Louisson, Waimea Road, Nelson, New Zealand. He worked as a clerk in Nelson before enlisting for service during World War One. He enlisted from Waimea Road, Nelson, New Zealand and embarked with the Field Artillery on 16 October 1914 from Wellington, New Zealand for Suez, Egypt. Louisson served for three years and one hundred and sixty-one days in Egypt and Gallipoli. He was discharged on 21 January 1918 as no longer physically fit for war service due to an illness contracted whilst on active service.
