Gunner/Driver Sydney Bradley (1895-1918). NZEF Service # 10545; Gunner/Driver with the New Zealand Field Artillery, No 1 Brigade, Ammunition Column, 12th Reinforcements, NZEF. Sydney Bradley was born 1895 - at Sheffield, England. Sydney was the son of Mrs Catherine Bradley - of Nelson, New Zealand. Prior to enlistment for war service Sydney Bradley was employed as a Butcher - at Nelson. Sydney Bradley enlisted for war service - on 11 January 1916 - at Trentham Military Training Camp, Wellington. He was 20 years of age. At enlistment he was posted as a Gunner/Driver - with the New Zealand Field Artillery, NZEF. On 6 May 1916 Gunner Driver Sydney Bradley left New Zealand for overseas war service - with the 12th Reinforcements NZEF - aboard HMNZ Transport Ship T53 'Navua' - from Port of Wellington. Gunner Driver Sydney Bradley served - with the New Zealand Field Artillery, No 1 Brigade, Ammunition Column NZEF - at France & Belgium. On 16 November 1918 - 5 days after the Armistice that would end World War One - Gunner Driver Sydney Bradley was admitted, sick, to the 56th Casualty Clearing Station - at France. On 27 November 1918 Gunner Driver Sydney Bradley died, of sickness, at the 56th Casualty Clearing Station, at France. He is buried at Grevillers British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France (Grave ref: XVIII.B.3) Gunner Driver Sydney Bradley is remembered at his hometown in New Zealand - on the ANZAC Park War Memorial (1914-1918) - at Nelson.
