Brother of Sergeant Walter Cecil RILEY (1881-1915) : NZEF Service 12/2451, of the Auckland Infantry Regiment, 5th Reinforcements, NZEF. Sergeant Walter Riley was killed in action - 8 August 1915 - at Chunuk Bair, Gallipoli, Turkey (aged 33 years). Sergeant Walter C. Riley has no known grave at Gallipoli - but he is commemorated on the Chunuk Bair (New Zealand) Memorial to the Missing, Chunuk Bair Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey (Panel Ref : 9). Sergeant Walter C Riley - and his elder brother Lieutenant Harry B. Lieutenant Harry Bolton RILEY (1875-1916). NZEF Service # 7/1801; Lieutenant, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, 8th Reinforcements, NZEF. Born (about) 1875 - at Collingwood, Tasman. Son of William & Susan Riley - of Nelson. Husband of Ellen Doris Riley - of Nelson. Prior to enlistment for war service Harry Riley was a Store-Keeper - at Collingwood. Lieutenant Harry Riley left New Zealand for overseas war service - on 13 November 1915. Lieutenant Harry B. Riley served at France until he was killed in action - on 2 October 1916 - at the Somme, France. He was 41 years of age. Lieutenant Harry B. Riley has no known grave at France - but he is commemorated on the Caterpillar Valley (New Zealand) Memorial, Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, Longueval, Somme, France. Lieutenant Harry Bolton Riley (1875-1916) is remembered on the Collingwood War Memorial (1914-1918) - at Collingwood, Tasman.
