Full length studio portrait of two men in military uniform. The man standing next to the bench is thought to be Private Ballance Patchett (serial no. 6/3426). Patchett was born on 5 August 1893 in Blenheim. On the Auckland War Memorial Museum Cenotaph database his next of kin is listed as George Patchett, (father), Blenheim, New Zealand. Before enlisting for service during World War One Patchett worked as a hairdresser in Blenheim. He joined the 8th Reinforcements Canterbury Infantry Battalion during World War One and embarked on 13 November 1915 from Wellington, New Zealand for Egypt. He served for one year and three hundred and fourty-five days in Egypt and Western Europe. He was discharged on 3 August 1917. He later died in Blenheim on 10 August 1974. The second man is unidenitified.
