Copy of a photograph of Private Frank Senior (Serial No. 6/1979) in military uniform. Senior was born on 2 December 1892 in Dodworth, England. On the Auckland War Memorial Museum Cenotaph database his next of kin is listed as Caniah Senior (father), 5 College Road, Oldham, Lancashire, England. Before World War One Senior worked as a school teacher for the Nelson Education Board. He enlisted for service during World War One from Pangatotara, Motueka, New Zealand. He embarked with the 4th Reinforcements Canterbury Infantry Battalion on 17 April 1915 from Wellington, New Zealand for Egypt. Senior died of wounds received whilst fighting in Gallipoli, Turkey, on 27 July 1915. He was twenty-two years old. His grave is located in Shrapnel Valley Cemetery, Anzac, Turkey.
