Head and shoulders studio portrait of Private John Morrison Andrew (serial no. 3/2694 and 463260) in military uniform. Andrew was born on 11 May 1896 in Wellington, New Zealand. On the Auckland War Memorial Museum Cenotaph database his next of kin is listed as Mrs Jessie Bett (mother), care of Dr Bett, Nelson, New Zealand. Before World War One Andrew worked as a farmer for Mr Field. Andrew enlisted for service during World War One and embarked with the 19th Reinforcements, New Zealand Medical Corps (Details) on 5 December 1916 from Wellington, New Zealand for Egypt. Andrew served in Egypt for two years and sixteen days before being discharged on 4 September 1919. Andrew went on to serve in World War Two with the 5th Independent Squadron MR. Andrew died of sickness in Masterton on 27 April 1956.
