Description
Full length studio portrait of two men, one in military uniform. Lawrence Clervaux Chaytor (Serial No. 7/180) is thought to be the man in military uniform. Chaytor was born on 25 August 1892. On the Auckland War Memorial Museum Cenotaph database his next of kin is listed as John Clervaux Chaytor (father), Spring Creek, Marshlands, Blenheim, New Zealand. Before World War One Chaytor was a farmer working for his father in Marshlands, Blenheim. Chaytor served with the Canterbury Mounted Rifles during World War One. He embarked on 24 September 1914 from Lyttelton, Canterbury, New Zealand for Wellington, New Zealand. From Wellington Chaytor joined the Main Body and embarked on 16 October 1914 for Egypt. Thought to have survived the war and been discharged on 29 July 1919. The second man is unidentified.
