Description
Wedding dress, worn in 1903, Stoke. Made by W. R. May, Richmond, Nelson. Bodice is in a deep cream silk like delicate fabric and is hip length, with a front centre opening. Bodice has a wide yoke with a deep flounce, with pin tucks and lace segments. The long sleeves come off the yoke, and have pin tucks at the top. The full sleeve has a deep flounce with lace edging over a gathered inner sleeve that has a cuff with two buttons. There is a stand collar, with a lace segment, and both the collar and yoke have hooks and eyes at the centre front. The bodice front has pintucks either side of the opening which has four buttons on one side. There are two bone segments at the front seams fitting the bodice to the waist. It is fully lined in a plain weave soft fabric. The bodice back has a fitted underlining with a loosely falling outer fabric. The centre back has pin tucks. The back continues the yoke but the flounce splits into two halves at the centre back. The hem dips to a deep V point at the back centre. The skirt, likeways is in a deep cream silk like delicate fabric, and has a full gather. It has pin tucks 180mm long at the waist. There is a deep flounce, 330 mm, with two lace and two pin tuck segments running horizontally about the hem. Skirt is fully lined with the same soft weave fabric as the bodice.
