William (Bill) Kempster Knapp on the bike, No 6. Bill was a member of the Nelson Motorcycle Club that raced bikes in the 1930s and 40's on grass at the Richmond, and on the sand at Tahuna and Wakapuaka circuits. He also raced outside Nelson and further information on his racing exploits can be found in Nelson Evening Mail cuttings in Paperspast..
