Maker biography
Cyprian Bridge Brereton (1876-1962) was a dentist by profession and was battalion commander of the Nelson 12th regiment at Gallipoli during World War I. He married Margaret Guy from Orinoco in England in 1915. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1918. He grew tobacco on his Orinoco farm from 1925 and was involved with the Nelson Pioneer Tobacco Grower's Union in the 1930s. He moved to Nelson in 1935 and became the Curator of the Nelson Institute Museum retiring in 1960.
