Description
Prize rifle, 30 bore (.539 calibre) breech loading, single barrel with engraved plate affixed to the stock. Fired paper cartridge ammunition. Checkered fore-end and wrist, provision for sling (missing). Engraved scroll. Graduated to 900 yards. Rear sight is Enfield pattern. Presented to James Marsden by the Nelson Provincial Government in 1862 as fifth place prize. Designed by Calisher and Terry and manufactured by Breech Loading Armoury Co, Ltd.
