Author/Artist: Brian Flintoff
Description
Tokere. Castanet type instrument made from two tipa or scallop shell halves joined by fibre. Can be made from wood, bone or a pair of bivalve shells. Knowledge of them comes from an early description where they were played with pair in each hand and the implication was they were hinged in some way.
