Description
Pakaru. Striker of slender flight bone of albatross with a wing of tauhou attached because the secret song of the instrument is paralleled by the secret song of the birds. It has been named Rapo because the striker was the best of several different materials tried and the contrast of colours suggested it. Pakaru vary in their descriptions and way of being played, but several descriptions of the player holding and tapping have been given. Goes with the maire striker (NPM2005.126.26.1)
