Hue Puruhau

Maker and Role
Author/Artist: Brian Flintoff
Hue puruhau, a dried gourd with the seeds removed. The sound of these instruments emulates that of the booming of a male Kakapo. This one has been given a delicate face and was carved while several kākāpō chicks were being reared in Nelson ready for release on Whenua Hou.
