Description
Victorian Bodice & Skirt; Pale Brown, finely striped silk outer with dark tan moire effect cotton lining. Blouse style bodice; front has side panels with cream cording and lace trim on front edge, centre front opening with hook and eye fastenings, underbodice with fine pin tucks.Back; wider pin tucks from neck to waist. Set in sleeves with fullness at sleeve head, wide horizontal pleats with 3decorative braided shapes and tassles holding pleats down in the centre, shaped to a peak at wrist, horizontal band of fabric embroidered with french knots and lace trim at hem. Boned lace collar,hook and eye fastenings. Waistband with horizontal tucks and hook and eye fastenings. Lining; 13 boning strips, centre front hook and eye fastenings, tape loops at sleeve head, cream underarm protectors attached to sleeve and bodice ( hard beads formed on surface from possible deterioration of an inner layer possibly rubber)
Skirt; 6 gore side with front pin tucks open from mid to lower edge and gathered at centre back, PL side placket opening with hook and eye fastenings, 2 x bias cut horizontal strips sewn to lower edge, narrow cotton tape waistband with hook and eye fastening, makers label attached to inside back waistband, hanging tapes. Lining; moire effect cotton, wide pin tucked frill attached to lower lining, Pl front opening with hook and eye fastenings.
