Object Detail
Description
Lithograph with borders and border margins, printed on cream sheet of paper. The print depicts a scene in Collingwood Street from the South circa 1860. A road spands the foreground space. Standing on the road are two figures. Pathways and buildings line both sides of the road. In the background are trees. Distinguishing features include the single vanishing point perspective, and rigidly straight lines of the buildings.
The buildings are named in the bottom margin 'NELSON HOTEL', 'MITRE HOTEL', 'TEMPERENCE HALL', and 'CONDELL'S STORE'.
Also in the bottom margin is 'HODGSON & FRIEND LITH NELSON' and the print is titled 'COLLINGWOOD STREET (from the South)'.
The print is ripped, taped and has many brown spots of foxing.
