Watercolour painting on rectangular sheet of white paper. The painting depicts a landscape with mountains. In the foreground on the left are long grasses, and on the right a stand of trees. A creek meanders back through the picture, from the bottom middle, back and up to the middle-ground left of the centre. The creek is framed on both sides by steep green hills which appear rocky and bare at their peaks. In the background is a range of mountains with snow capped peaks.

The painting is signed 'J.S.Browning' and titled 'COBBS CREEK NEAR TABLELAND. TAKAKA. NELSON.'
