Object Detail

Watercolour painting on rectangular sheet of brown paper, with a brown window mount, and backing. The painting is a botanical illustration of part of a shrub with flowers. One branching green stem is depicted. The stems are green and curved, with alternate compound leaves. The green leaflets are small and heart-shaped. Interspersed along the stems are clusters of small round purple and white bilateral flowers. There are leaves and flowers depicted in a wash of colours.

The painting is marked "NiNA JONES" and "CArMichAELiA odorAtA". Paper label along lower edge of mount: "Carmichaelia odorata, a very sweet-scented broom from the Tararua ranges. Natural size."
