Object Detail

Description
Watercolour painting on rectangular sheet of brown paper, with a brown window mount, and backing. The painting is a botanical illustration of part of a tree with flowers, thought to be a Nikau palm. The green-brown woody trunk has a series of ridges with a terminal cluster of upward pointing leaves. The leaves consist of numerous narrow pointed leaflets attached to a robust leaf axis. Below the leaves are two flower heads, made up of tiny flowers on fleshy branches. Three studies of flowers with white centres and pink petals can be seen in the bottom left corner. There is cross hatching in a wash of greens and yellows.

The painting is marked "NiNA JONES"
