Description
Oil painting on rectangular canvas stretcher, in an oval gold mount, and heavy gold frame. The painting depicts a half length portrait of a gentleman who is thought to be Benjamin Hodgson. His eyes are blue. He sits with the elbow of one arm on a table with his hand in his lap, and his other hand on his hip. He wears a powdered wig of a style worn in the 1780s. He wears a blue jacket with red collar, a white collared double breasted waistcoat and white cravat. The background is painted in browns.
