The artist Ernest Knapp, was the elder son of William Harvey Knapp, and brother of Kempster James Knapp. Ernest would have grown up on this farm, which he left in the early 1900's in a move to the Wairarapa. There he married ?? Aulin, and was a store keeper. They eventually moved to the Waikato, where Ernest continued in retail businesses. Their marrige produced two sons.
