Full length studio portrait of a man in military uniform. Thought to be Gunner Albert William Westrupp (serial no. 2/1826 and 61092). Westrupp was born on 17 March 1895 or 1897 in Nelson, New Zealand. Westrupp worked as a seaman for Captain Gisbon of Russell Street, Nelson. On the Auckland War Memorial Museum Cenotaph database his next of kin is listed as Samuel Westrupp (father), Haven Road, Nelson, New Zealand. He enlisted from Haven Road, Nelson, New Zealand and embarked with the 5th Reinforcements Field Artillery on 13 June 1915 from Wellington, New Zealand for Suez, Egypt. He served for three hundred and thirty-nine days in Egypt and Gallipoli before being discharged on 23 March 1916 as medically unfit for war service. Westrupp went on to also serve during World War Two. Westrupp died on 11 March 1973 in Nelson, New Zealand.
