Full length studio portrait of a man in military uniform with a rifle. Thought to be Private Douglas Westrupp (serial no. 46216). Westrupp was born on 3 February 1896 in Nelson, New Zealand. On the Auckland War Memorial Museum Cenotaph database his next of kin is listed as Mrs W. Westrupp (mother), Collingwood, New Zealand. Westrupp worked as a blacksmith for Mr Scott before enlisting for service during World War One. He embarked with the 24th Reinforcements Canterbury Infantry Regiment, C Company on 26 April 1917 from Wellington, New Zealand for Plymouth, England. He served for two years and two hundred and twenty-six days in Western Europe before being discharged in 1919.
