Description
Cuff band made of plaited hair with mounts of gilt. The locket contains an image of an unknown man and woman. This is a mourning band from the estate of Ernest Alfred Smart of Nelson. Hair was used as a lasting keepsake as it did not decompose; hair was seen as a symbol of life.
