Description
Full length studio portrait of a man in military uniform. Thought to be Private Cecil Arthur Amos (serial no. 38254). Amos was born on 16 August 1895 in Hawera, New Zealand. On the Auckland War Memorial Museum Cenotaph database his next of kin is listed as Mrs W.H. Amos (mother), Brougham Street, Nelson, New Zealand. Amos worked as a railway engineer before enlisting for service during World War One. He embarked with the 22nd Reinforcements, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, C Company on 16 February 1917 from Wellington, New Zealand for Devonport, England. He served for less than one year. Amos died of wounds received in active service on 12 October 1917 in Belgium. He was twenty years old.
